This week  I had a supervisory meeting, another interesting chat with my  Central Saint Martins team Professor Janet McDonnell and Adam Thorpe.  Above I present a more concise version of my themes map, which keeps developing as research evolves.  I have been discussing where my research questions sit in relation to the knowledge landscape, and the relationship between empathy, communication design, social innovation/sustainability.  It has now been clarified the relationship of a case-study on the communication of alternative food initiatives in relationship to this knowledge landscape.

WORKSHOP: AESTHETICS OF SUSTAINABILITY SESSION 4 I presented some images of sustainable food communication (slideshow above) and together with the workshop colleages we depicted and discussed them.  Still, the most interesting image to analyze is possible one which I have shared times before - for as provocative as it is, the dichotomy of farmer vs family at the dinner table with food abundance, resonates a discussion of values, perception, proximity vs distance.  This image is an "internet meme", a type of image usually created  for frivolous purposes (ie celebrity talk), and for this becomes an interesting piece of cultural artifact.   We here discussed (bridging to previous sessions) the clichés in sustainability aesthetics and the romantic idea of nature.

PS. here is a very interesting compilation of visualization methods in form of a periodic table!
