Additive Manufacturing & Sustainability Toolbox / Strategy

London / Belgium, 2015
The Additive Toolbox was a collaboration project with Forum for the Future UK for client Plan-C Belgium as part of a wider project Additive Design Challenge.  A competition that invited thinkers, makers and doers to put 3D printing at work for people and planet.  The Challenge was about implementing in practice 6 guiding design principles that designers can take into consideration.

The principles and communities it impacts are illustrated in a shape that illustrates the interconnectedness.  The toolkit contained a poster that acts like a roadmap to use the principles and a set of cards that are prompts for conversation during design creative process.  This toolkit is practical tools to help makerspaces, fab labs, and all creators within the additive manufacturing movement to become more aware of the sustainable impact of their activities.  It covers a spectrum from material use to energy consumption of all stakeholders involved in the creative project.

The project included concept development, communication design of identity and guidelines, the layout and packaging of poster and card set.
Project done in collaboration with designer Leonora Oppenheim.
