Bindu Village / design for social innovation

Bali, Indonesia, 2017

Currently working on.

This project sits under the philosophy of Design Dharma. On a summer trip I met the wonderful Bindu village community.  On discussion of what is the daily life in a village where rice plantation and cultivation used to be the main trade, the village spokesman Pak Gusti expressed the need for creative thinking on how to develop the village in terms of new services that would be exciting enough for young people not to abandon in exchange for the large cities like Denpasar and Jakarta.  On the spot a few brainstorms emerged around the concept of tat twam asi, meaning, I am you you are me.

Bringing in a range of designers to collectively inspire the village through collaborative service design methods is a project to be carried out in 2017.
